Bardem is never less than watchable as Paco, who ambles around the place like a bipedal bison, but Cruz is oddly underused: it seems bizarre, if not downright culturally tone-deaf, that a story about a kidnapped daughter set in Spain wouldn’t place her mother at the heart of the search. Farhadi has told the story of a disappearing girl before, in his 2009 film About Elly: that rivetingly eerie low-key thriller left behind a lasting shudder. This take on the premise is more narratively complex, yet it’s also excessively tidy and strangely sexless, and invites no further reflection once its central question has been answered. ![]() ![]() Feb 7, 2019 - This review originally ran during the Cannes Film Festival. Everybody Knows opens with a whirlwind introduction to a sprawling Spanish family,. What's the fact which everybody knows and you don't? This is the most interesting element in this movie. The screenplay let you or in better word make you to investigate truth and to suspect anybody in the story. But after you know truth story is no more interesting. It could be more exciting if the story had a complex ending. Micro focus cobol compiler.
